A is for All The Dogs

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and maybe I will become as generous and loving as they are" - Unknown

A is for All the Dogs #AtoZChallenge @BatteredHope

For all you dog lovers out there, this month of the A - Z blogging challenge is for you -- well, it's for everybody!

I don't think I ever met a dog I didn't like. I certainly can't say that about every person I ever met which is really strange because there are all kinds of people just like there are all kinds of dogs. Maybe it is because I never met a dog that didn't like me. I mean...there are some pretty ugly dogs out there and that includes not only the way they look but their personalities. Yet, I'm a dog magnet. They come to me, and love me and it is most definitely reciprocal.

Always room for one more...
There have only been a few very short periods in my life when I didn't have a dog. No special reason -- just worked out that way. The two I have now are going to be 14 and 18 years old this year. I have been saying OUT LOUD for a couple of years now, "When these two are gone....that's it. No more dogs." I just don't have any love left to give away to any new four legged friends that will leave me just when I couldn't possibly love them any more. Yet, I know that won't happen. I catch myself thinking about a new pup or a mature dog that needs a home and know that at the first opportunity, I'll make them mine.

I want to share some laughs and some tears with you on this journey about the wild and wonderful dogs in my life during this A - Z challenge.

What is it about dog people? Why do we need dogs in our lives? Is it that we are not fulfilled without them there? Is it that we need a friend? Are we lonely? Why do we NEED dogs to complete us? Any ideas?
