Would You Give Up Social Media for Money?

Money
What amount of money would it take to entice you to give up social media for a year?  That question was posed to me and after thinking about it for 30 seconds I couldn't think of any amount of money that would entice me.  I would give it up without any problem.

However, this question did make me think about what I accomplish on social media and why it would be easy to give up.

For Richer and Poorer? Better AND Worse?

When asked to share the story about my first love and whether or not it lasted, that was a loaded question.  When I think about my first love, I realize it was not love at all. I had to kiss a lot of frogs before meeting my prince.  Many times what I thought was love was merely a romance.  Although I can chalk those times up to experience, I wonder if it would be ideal to just skip all that and go to the real deal. What do you think?

To answer the question submitted to me by another blogger, Little Piece of Peace I will share my love story that started 45 years ago.

I saw him on the other side of the roller rink at the church skating party and wondered how to approach him.  He had been the guest speaker at my church on Sunday and I was smitten.  Eventually, I got up the nerve to skate a little closer to him and say "Hi, I'm Carol." He smiled, nodded and sped off.

5 Rules - What Your Blogging Manners Say About You

When we were little kids, our parents and teachers taught us manners.  They taught us to say "Please" and "Thank you" and "Excuse me" to name a few.  We were also taught to respond when we were spoken to and to be polite at all times.

Now that I have been a member of the blogging community for a couple years, I have found it interesting and sometimes annoying, that these same manners don't seem to apply.

8 Things To Never Do On Your Blog

Each of us is entitled to our own opinions and these are mine regarding blogging.  There are certain things we do as bloggers that turn off many readers. Incorporating them into our blogs are small changes that can make a big difference in keeping our followers returning .... or not. I believe there are some things we should never do to maintain that interest.

How Can Your Blog Make An Impact?

As a blogger, I believe many of us live in a constant state of being overwhelmed. Overtaken with how much there is to learn to how much there is to do. Overwhelmed with the lack of knowledge and time we need to accomplish our goals.

When I published Battered Hope last year, I assumed I would  sit back and relax.  I had published my book, paid my publisher to market it for me and all was well in my world. I wrote my first blog post and waited for book sales and thousands of readers to come knocking at my blog door.  It didn't happen - at all!

I was completely naive of any social media networking tools and was clueless where to start.  I wrote a couple more posts; and by some sort of miracle, I captured the attention of a woman who was an administrator for a blogging community.  Diane had her fingers in many areas of marketing and networking.  She worked around the clock. Why was she the least bit interested in me?

Dear Blogger:

Today I visited your blog.  I didn't stay.  I wanted to, but it was too difficult.  I tried, but I had to leave. I knew you spent a lot of time writing something amazing.  I knew I would enjoy reading your post when you had tweaked my interest with your title.

Rest assured, Blogger, you are not alone.  There have been numerous blogs I have visited recently that I had to leave. The part I don't understand is there is so much information available, so many short courses and tips for Bloggers and yet.....

7 Deadly Sins To Ensure People Won't Follow Your Blog

Your opinion please?  As most bloggers, I read numerous blog posts a day.   When setting up my blog, I did hours of research to determine what works and what doesn't work.  Even though I was new to the blogging world, I quickly recognized 7 Deadly Sins that would make me X out and go to the next blog.

There is so much information in social media venues that tell us what NOT to do and what we SHOULD be doing.  The more blogs I read, the more evident it becomes, as to what works and what doesn't.

NO WI-FI? NO PROBLEM!

NO WI-FI?  NO PROBLEM!

This is the first time I will be involved in the A - Z Blogging Challenge and I certainly have been looking forward to it.  I have met so many wonderful people during the short time I have been blogging and especially during challenges - and look forward to a lot of insight about many soon-to-be new friends.

No Wi-Fi? @BatteredHope

Within seconds of signing up for this challenge, I knew what my theme would be.  I asked a few friends what I should blog about in this challenge and all of them just looked at me as if I just landed from outer space and was asking directions.   It was hands down, no question about it -- DOGS.  But not just dogs, OUR dogs.  We have had enough of these family members to fill up this daily challenge.

Blog Love

Come in out of the cold and READ

We were asked to show some love a blog that we enjoy following.  I follow many different blogs for many different reasons but there is one that stands out to me.  When she posted 25 little known facts about herself, I was amazed at how much we were alike so I checked her out.  Turns out, I love her style of writing and even though she is an extremely busy lady, she does not compromise in her postings.

I hope you will enjoy Carrie Ann Tripp's Daily Musings
along with her sense of humor and personal convictions.
